Woche 58

Servus euch!

This week was a good one. A very good one. Also once again crazy busy out of my mind haha

Last weekend we split with the Hagen elders in our district and I got to go to Hagen with the wonderful Elder Ashton! We spent most of the day trying to visit this family that lived out in the boonies and ended up on two trains and an hour long bus ride. We kept missing trains and busses, and then contacting while we were waiting, and then missing the next connection because we were contacting! It was quite the adventure haha. Also for service we helped a guy clear out some brush in his yard and I may have accidentally cut his extension cord with a chainsaw. It's okay though, he fixed it haha

On Sunday in church Shumon and Shekh got confirmed and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. They were so happy and the members really started to open up to them and take them under their wing. It was way cool to see them have such a great experience. I'm way proud of and happy for them :)

On Monday we ran around doing repairs on the other two Dortmund apartments that are currently closed. They had cleaning inspections on Saturday and we got a list of stuff to clean and repair, mostly the toilet seats and so we got to spend way too much of our time trying to fix wobbly toilet seats for uninhabited apartments. We had had a long string of buying the wrong parts and then actually they worked for the toilet in the other apartment but we didn't bring them with, then buying better parts and revisiting both of them and getting it all fixed, and then at the last second Elder Burch accidentally broke one of the toilet seats and we had to go buy another one hahaha. It was quite the adventure

We got to split with the Paderborn Elders on Tuesday and had a blast! I got to serve with Elder Mellor, making him the second Englander split with in a week! We had a party going by on a bunch of investigators and were able to visit with them on the fly. It was way cool.

Transfer calls are this upcoming Saturday in just a few days and I cannot believe how fast this transfer has evaporated. This one was by far the fastest so far, and it literally still feels like it's week 1. It's freaking me out a bit haha. Elder Burch has been here a while so he may get transferred, we'll see though on Saturday!

I always struggle with coming up with spiritual thoughts because I never know how to summarize all that I've learned into a short message!
One thing I did come to realize this week though, has to do with weakness again.
We all struggle with overcoming weakness and in the Book of Ether Moroni promises us that God "will make weak things become strong unto [us]". I have a very strong testimony that this is true. I know it because everything that I am right now has been given me from God. Literally everything.
The puzzle piece that clicked into place this week was the the answer to the question of when the strength comes. God promises us that if we humble ourselves and have faith in Christ, that he will make our weaknesses into strengths, but when can I know that I've done that?
The answer is this: The strength comes in at the moment when we decide that we don't care when it comes. The moment we decide that no matter low long it takes for the strength or confidence to come, we will still do the will of God, is the moment that we have humbled ourselves. Humility means putting God's will before ours, and so when we reach this point and make this decision, that's when the weak things will be made strong unto us.
So make the decision! Even if you don't feel like you mean it yet, pray to God and tell him it anyway! Let the desire work in you!

You are awesome! Vergesst das nicht!
Liebe Grüße
Elder Harps
