This week flew holy cow. It was way fun.
Christmas was super fun! We got to spend it with a bunch of members and we ate food and shared the spirit and had a blast! Also learned a new board game! It was a ton of fun. Christmas was awesome.
Highlight of the week was definitely Calling home!! My family is awesome, and it was a blast to just be able to talk freely instead of through email. Love those guys!
The work here continues to go well, we are basically trying to meet with anyone we can because everyone is super busy until after new years so yeah. Lots of finding and rescheduling appointments! It's been awesome!
So I guess I forgot to mention it, but we got smart phones a few weeks ago. Funny enough this is my first smart phone ever so yay haha. It's really helped a ton with the work.
Well I bring up Smartphones because we have an amazing booklet called "Safeguards for Using Technology" and it is wonderful. To anybody anywhere who wants to know how to stay safe from dangers in the internet, read this booklet. Whether it be for your kids, with your spouse, or just yourself, if you follow the principles in this booklet, you will be able to use technology as a tool and not be used by technology. It's awesome.
Anyway, there is a little 3 step process to be used when learning to use technology appropriately. It is this:
1) Be Aware and Acknowledge
2) Choose to Act
3) Learn and Improve
Well as I read about it, I realized that honestly, this little cheesy process is actually the pattern we need to use any time we want to access the enabling power of the Atonement and overcome any weakness / develop any skill.
We cannot work on something until we recognize that we need to work on it. Just like Adam and Eve couldn't learn or grow until they had a knowledge of good and evil, we can't learn or grow until we know how we want to learn or grow! We have to recognize our weaknesses if we want to improve.
Then, once we are aware of our weaknesses, we need to recognize the times in our day, when we experience said weakness. We need to see the times when we are impatient, or prideful, or unkind, or selfish. We know we have this area to improve, we now see the opportunities to do better, and then we can choose to choose better. We may not recognize the situations before we've made a wrong choice, but the next time we can, and we can choose to do right, to be patient or humble, or a peacemaker even though it's hard. We can learn and improve!
So how do we kick it off?? How can we recognize our flaws that are often so hard to see?
Well Ether 12:27 says "And if men come unto me, I will show unto them their weakness". Ask! Come to God willing to improve on something. Know that it won't be easy but know that you can be better! Ask God to show you your weaknesses, and trust him to help you and to "make weak things become strong unto [you]".
God lives and loves you! You are his child. He will be thrilled to help you along your path back to him.
I love you all! I hope you had a very merry Christmas and I hope you have a happy new year!
Alles Gute! Ich habe euch alle Lieb!
