Woche 50

Grüße aus dem schönen sonnigen Essen!

Not gonna lie, it major grosses me out to write "Woche 50". That number is WAY too high. Haha

This week was cool! We had some way cool miracles.

Update on Eric, still trying to meet with him again, it's hard to find a time.

Laila is doing awesome though! She's reading slowly, and we taught her the 10 Commandments and the Word of Wisdom this week. She was asking great questions and we really liked it. She committed to live them! We are meeting with her again tomorrow and we are excited, though I won't be there because I'll be on split!

Cool miracle this week. We called a recent convert in our ward and asked to meet this week and we were able to come over and visit him. We had a really fun small talk since he speaks great English and also is big into sports and video games and he's just a Bro haha. But we also brought a message about the Book of Mormon. We read in the Introduction to the Book of Mormon and talked about how the Book of Mormon is the Keystone of our testimonies. He bore powerful testimony of God and our Savior, as well as his personal witness of the Book of Mormon. We talked about how if we can hold onto this book, and not let go no matter how hard it is, and how much we are questioning everything, it always will work out. He told us that God had sent us to him that day, because he was in a spot where he was questioning everything. He hadn't been doing very well, but we had addressed all his concerns and he felt the spirit. It was really really cool, because I was also kinda in a spot where I was wondering if my efforts were really contributing, and it was just a sweet moment of Heavenly Father showing us that he knows us and has a master plan for us all, if we will stick to this Gospel and follow his only Begotten Son.

We also got to meet with some cool families in the ward this week, including Bishop. They are awesome.

We are also trying to forge a Ward Mission Plan from nothing, and it's going well! It's a lot of work and it's taking a lot of studying in PMG (Preach My Gospel manual) and brainstorming, but the pieces are clicking into place. Hopefully we will have that soon and we can start to really get our Ward moving with the member missionary work!
I'd love to talk briefly about that actually. Man, one of the biggest things I regret about before my mission is not sharing what I had more. By that I mean the gospel. It's blessed my life so much. It truly is an iron rod and a guide, as well as my rock to lean on and support me. I wish I had shared it earlier.
Well part of making this plan is deciding how we can help members get involved, and exercise THEIR faith to work missionary miracles. We've been brainstorming a lot, and we also talked a lot about it during Zonenkonferenz this week.
Our new counselor in the mission Presidency shared the story of Alma the Younger with us, and pointed out that the angel that appeared to Alma and chastened him in his wicked ways didn't appear because of anything Alma was doing. The miracle wasn't worked based on HIS faith. It was because of the faith and fasting and prayer from his Father and the other members of the church. Their prayers and desires worked a miracle, that led to the dramatic conversion of a future prophet and leader of their church. This Saul level conversion was worked because of the faith of the members.
One of the things we are including in our plan, is invitations to members and non-members to pray for those we are working with specifically by name. If that's not possible, we are asking them to pray for areas for us to go finding in. Or even just in general to pray for us and this work of Gathering the Children of Israel. As we lend our prayers to this work, miracles will be worked before our eyes. Our faith will grow, and our hearts will be brought nearer to God.
I invite you to lend your prayers to this combined missionary effort. Don't forget to pray, and don't miss out on these simple but profound blessings! We need you!

You are awesome! God loves you! Missionary work is the flipping best!

Bis nächste Woche! Tschüß!

PS I'm so sorry I've been terrible with pictures lately. We'll make sure to take some good ones this week :)
